International Student Health Insurance
Health care in the United States is very expensive. A week's stay in the hospital can cost thousands of dollars and medicines can be very costly. As a result, UW policy requires international students to have health insurance. Students are required to purchase the UW Student Insurance Plan unless they have evidence of alternative insurance that is equal to or, exceeds the minimum coverage and provisions offered by the UW plan. The written evidence must be in English. Students are automatically billed for their insurance as part of their tuition and fees during registration. While not yet required, students are strongly encouraged to have health insurance for any accompanying dependent. For more information, contact the Student Health Insurance office at stuins@uwyo.edu. If you are sponsored by an agency or government, special arrangements may have to be made for approval of their policy.
